FIGHT ON, FIGHTER
If you know me, you know I can be very introverted and reserved, but you also know I am a deep person who is adventurous, loving, and is inspired by all creative and inspirational things.
As a 19 year-old who is about to enter my third decade of being on this earth, I've both seen a lot and have been through a lot. I was made fun of a lot in school, was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease five years ago, and am just now learning to embrace who I am and be comfortable and confident in myself around others.
My biggest struggle is fear, and as a musician, I a lot of times look to music as a way I believe God speaks to me in my every-day life.
When the Christian band (who happens to be my favorite band) For King & Country came out with their new album Burn the Ships last fall, one of my immediate favorite songs was "Fight on, Fighter."
The chorus goes like this:
Fight on, fighter
Don't let anyone steal your fire
Fight on, fighter
The Spirit is alive inside ya, yeah
In this time of my life, especially as a young college student who is an intern as well, there is a lot of pressure.
I'm no longer confined in my safe-haven of being at the same school since nursery. I'm in reality...the "real world."
People will try and have tried to make me into someone who I am not. I've had my good and bad days with my health. College hasn't always been easy, especially with the experiences I have had. But, the one thing that has remained constant is my God.
He created me to BE ME. He created you to BE YOU.
Don't let anyone steal what is inside of you. Let your passions be set ablaze by your Creator and watch and see how awesome He can make your life into being.
You may not understand everything you've been through. You may be afraid to be yourself, but fight on, fighter.
Don't give in to what fear is coaxing you into because it is just a trap.
Love who you are and show the world who you are.
If you don't have a relationship with Christ, I encourage you to talk to someone today. You can even contact me, and I would love to share with you the Good News I have inside of me. He has fought for me and encourages me to fight on past all that the world says. He'll give you the fire to keep on.
Don't be a copy. Be the only YOU there is in this world.
